What is a pet sitter?

A pet sitter is a loving, caring, professional who provides excellent care for your pets and your home while you are at work or away on a vacation.

What kind of pets do you provide care for?

We care for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, fennec foxes, hedgehogs, birds, and fish.

Will you care for my pets without meeting them?

We will not provide services without meeting with you and your pets first.  Meet and greets need to take place a minimum of three days before services begin.

What is a meet and greet?

A meet and greet is a time for you and your pets to meet with your sitter or sitter team.  During the meeting, your sitter will thoroughly go over care instructions, locations of your pets items, and service needs. Your sitter will also answer any questions you may have!

Do you need a key to my home?

If we will be gaining access to your home by key, two will be required at the time of the meet and greet.  If we will be entering by garage code or door keypad, we require that a key be on the outside of the property in a lock box in the event of a power outage or equipment malfunction.

Are you bonded and insured?

Absolutely!  We carry liability insurance and all sitters are bonded through Pet Sitters Associates. Please feel free to ask any questions about our insurance policy.

How many visits per day will you provide for my dog, puppy, cat, or other small animal?

We will provide up to two daytime visits for your puppy or dog,  up to two daily visits for cats, and one daily visit for other small animals.  Additional visits can be requested for special circumstances.

Can a visit be scheduled for a specific time?

We cannot guarantee specific times as weather, traffic, and schedule changes have an effect on arrival times.  We require a two hour time frame, but will do our best to arrive as close to the preferred visit time as possible.

Do you offer vacation pet sitting for dogs?

We do not offer in home pet sitting for dogs at this time.  Our hours of operation are from 8am-6pm.

Do you board pets?

We do not offer boarding at this time.  All of our services are provided in your home.

If I live outside of your service area, will you still care for my pets?

Our service areas are Brighton and Howell, MI and Hidden Lake Subdivision in South Lyon Michigan. If an available sitter team lives within fifteen minutes of your location, it may be possible to provide services for your pets. 

Will I have the same pet sitter or dog walker every time?

Our sitters build a close relationship with the families and pets that we care for. Continuity of care is very important to us and we try our best to assign your primary pet sitter as often as we can. Our sitters have emergencies, and take days off and vacations now and then. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that they will always be available. If your sitter or sitter team is not available, we will provide a fully prepared and informed substitute sitter.

How do I communicate with my sitter?

You can contact your sitter by replying to the visit feedback that will be sent to you via e-mail.  You can also leave written notes for them.  If you need to talk to someone right away, please call (810) 844-1897.

May I give my pet sitter or dog walker gratuity?

Tips are not expected, but they are very much appreciated!  100% of the tips go to the pet sitter or dog walker.

What happens when I return from my trip?

Please post a comment on your most recent journal to inform us that you have made it home safely. If we have not heard from you within 10 hours of your expected return time, we will arrange to provide a care visit for your pets.  Pet safety and care is our priority!  Payment for additional visits will be due within 24 hours.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be received within 24 hours of scheduled visit or full amount of visit will apply. Vacation cancelations must be received 48 hours before first scheduled visit or a $50 fee will apply. 

Do you charge a holiday fee?

We charge an additional $5 per vacation visit on holidays. Dog walking, puppy visits, and pet taxi are not available on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Holidays include Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. 

What forms of payment do you accept and what is your policy?

Payment is expected before services are rendered.  In the event of additional unforeseen visits or other costs (such as food, supplies, vet fees, etc.), payment is expected within 5 days of the completion of services or a late charge of $20 will be applied. We accept credit cards, cash, or checks made out to Four Seasons For Paws.  Payment must be left for your sitter (or charged in your online client profile) on the first day of weekly or vacation services.​​
